Larsen Opening

This move starts the opening named after the former world class Danish player Bent Larsen. White fianchettoes his dark-squared bishop to b2 and exercises indirect control over the centre. This plan is a rare guest in tournament practice since White's build-up is reticent and he does not occupy the centre with a pawn. Black's logical reactions are 1... e7-e5 or 1...d7-d5, occupying the centre.
